22 May 2014 - Lorax was arrested in Australia
He reached out to those he felt had an aim worthy of promotion on many occasions, with such causes as freedom of speech, freedom on the internet and those against the machinations of the state which aim to take away the privacy and freedoms of opinion and expression that he felt we should have.
In the course of this, he and his show, ’Lorax Live’ have been invaluable in spreading the various messages from the guests he had; we now ask those guests to show solidarity with the man who categorically believed in them.
His supposed participation in hacktivsm saw him raided by Australian Federal Police in May of 2014. Since then, he’s been awaiting prosecution for a variety of charges — charges government prosecutors seem unable to pin down.
One data breach leading to Bennett’s arrest involved a target of Australia’s controversial data retention law, which requires ISPs to hold onto subscribers’ internet activity (including social network use and emails) for two years and grant extensive access to a variety of government agencies.
Even more irritating is the fact that the prosecution apparently hopes to add Bennett’s vulnerability testing of his own employer to list of charges.
Adam is now facing a maximum penalty upwards of 60 years in prison for simply protesting and doing research.
To properly defend his case the costs could mount up to well over $200,000. We are asking supporters and other people who also oppose governement surveilence to help Adam get the defence he deserves and defeat the prosection making it harder for the same types of charges to be laid on others as well as himself.
The Anonymous radio host of Lorax Live, has been blocked from producing new shows, with charges of hacking leveled against him. With well over 100 interviews done by Lorax, he was well aware that he was a growing target, for a corrupt covert empire and like many of his guests, has always been willing to pay a high personal price, for speaking truth to power, and fighting for a more just world and peaceful future.
